Job Description:
Proactive support is a group within Teradata Customer Services. This group provide proactive support to Teradata Customers for issues related to Teradata server platforms. They use various tools to give superior support to customers. The primary goals of these tools is to further position Teradata as a world class service provider. This investment will increase service to the consumer of services provided by Teradata while decreasing costs. In other words, there is better availability, more timely response, and better satisfaction for Teradata customers accompanied by a significant reduction in services costs. These two conditions position Teradata to optimize profitability by producing a service offering with higher efficiency than competitors and one so unique that competitors cannot duplicate the same value.
These tools run on Teradata servers / nodes and alert support agents of any fault/issue on the hardware platform. Information sent by these tools is processed by other Business Intelligence apps and Support Centers are informed of the issue who then take control of the situation and fix it. All this happening without any human intervention during diagnosis and resolution of Teradata system problems.
Functional Responsibilities and Skills Required:
IT Services develops and supports these tools. This involves working on RFCs, bug fixing and production support. The new hire will take jobs as detailed below:
# Responsible for Teradata Customers Services proactive support tools worldwide.
# Development for new releases, and bug fixes.
# Maintain existing releases.
# Creating required project artifacts like detailed design documents, test cases and others based on SDLC.
# Develop and test various the tools independently and collectively.
# Maintain source code control of all application code, scripts.
# Provide innovative ideas to improve the system.
# Production support of the systems.
Desired Profile:
# B.E./B.Tech in Computer Engineering or MCA or an equivalent education from a reputed Institute
# Minimum of 1-4 years working experience in following areas:
Primary Skills:
# Good fundamental understanding of C & /C++ , Perl
# Understanding of Unix OS Concepts and Unix Shell Programming, Oracle SQL
# Core Java, XML, XSLT, XPath, XQuery
Secondary Skills:
# J2EE (Servlet/JSP) on Apache Tomcat, Struts Framework
# Rational Clearcase will be added advantage
# Knowledge of Software Development Life-Cycle
# Strong Problem Solving Skills required.
# Excellent oral and written communication skills.
